I'm in the process of making a character, and I want her to be a Healer as well as one of the Chosen. How long would she be in training as a Healer and, if she were around 20, how far along in it would she be? Is it possible for her to be both Healer and Chosen at once? Or does being Chosen mean that's all you are right now?

Children start official training for jobs around 15-16. However, they are often enlisted to run errands and help out around the canyon from as young as 8 or so. So your girl could have been helping the Herbalists in the garden or preparing salves and healing potions from little on, but she wouldn't have had formal training in the field until 14. Training for a herbalist, since there's more at stake then say, cooking, would have to learn under supervision for 6-7 years. She could very close to finishing training, but she even finish before she gets a dragon egg. As part of The Chosen, she could continue with her studies, however, once she gets an egg, she will be expected to devote her entire time to the dragon and dragon lessons. If she wanted to work as a herbalist after her dragon has grown into adulthood, I'm sure that could be worked out. I hope that answers your question! And you've inspired me to include training information on the careers sheet.
