Of course, there is a lot to being a rider than just saddling up and going for a joy ride!
Huntleader: leads a hunting party of 6-10 dragonriders into the desert to hunt the great sand serpents. Huntleaders make the decisions on where to hunt and when to start the attack. Not all hunting trips are successful. Maybe only one day a week will a party bring back a serpent. However, there are many, many hunting parties in a medium or large sized canyon.
Hunter: One of the members of a hunting party. Every other week switch duties with a Carrier.
Carrier: Carries the metal cauldron-like porra to the mountain to the north, fills it in the numerous lakes, and brings it back to the aquifer at the canyon. One trip takes one afternoon.
Weapon Master: A rider who as mastered most, if not all of the fighting techniques common among riders. Teaches young riders and works to keep older rider's in shape.
