Lellinias Weyr
Free the flame and sear the grasses,
Till the dawning Red Star passes
450 turns after AIVAS and Pern has forgotten everything that the marvellous discovery taught them.
Why?
200 turns ago Landing was destroyed. Mount Garben erupted, setting off the Eastern ring Islands. The whole of the Eastern Ring and the Eastern part of the South Continent, along with the whole of Landing was covered by a river of molten lava. Precious records were lost and the people of Pern were thrown into a time of turmoil.
The ash thrown up into the atmosphere made half the Southern continent uninhabitable. The North was soon over populated and the Dragonriders were turned on. What was the point of keeping the Dragons when thread had not been seen in 450 turns? Ancient records found in Fort and Benden Holds told of the deadly silver rain, but now it hadn’t been seen for so long the Holders were convinced the Red Planet was gone and thread would no longer fall.
The dragons, once proud and magnificent were chased like common criminals. They were forced from their Ancestral Weyrs. Time saw their numbers dwindle, riders were treated like the scum of Pern, and they weren’t welcome in Holds. The Weyrs had disappeared, all except three.
Lellinias Weyr was founded on the Western Continent a turn ago. The Weyr is supported by Lellinias Weyrhold, traditional folks, who believed on the Dragons were still important. They moved with the Weyr, setting up a support system to feed and care for the Dragons and those men and women who rode them.
Three Weyrs remain from the original six. Telgar, High Reaches and Ista are all still working, but they aren't flourishing. The Holds are still supporting the Weyrs, but times are hard and the Holders don't like giving up their young to the Weyrs. Tensions between the Weyrs and Holds are tense. Telgar Weyr is beginning to flex its muscles. The Weyrleader there believing the Holds owe the Weyrs. Things could turn very nasty.
But now the Red Star has appeared in the sky and the three Golden Queens have risen twice this last turn, the clutches were bigger than any recorded over the past 400 turns.
Does this mean Thread is returning?
And if so will there be enough dragons to fly the deadly menace or will Pern be faced with the worst disaster ever?
We have plenty to keep you busy at Lellinias
- A fire lizard clutch is about to hatch
- Golden Xiliath has risen, she is due to clutch shortly. There will be a Hatching soon
- High Ranking Dragons are up for adoption, even clutchers
- We try to be a Weyr where everyone stands a chance at the high ranking positions.
- Lets of plots and plenty of willing writers
