It has been almost four hundred and fifty Turns since Pern last experienced the harsh and violent silver rain known as Thread. During this time of peace the planet has grown vivid and lush, animals have become abundant, and most of the people have enjoyed life without the ancient paranoia that the mythical Thread will once again fall-- mythical? Of course, after all only the most traditional holders, craftsmen, and dragonmen believe that their horrid enemy will return, and to most people they are reviewed as strange or foolish. If Thread was going to fall, it would have fell over two hundred Turns ago!
The Holds, most of them anyway, are convinced that the once dreaded Red Star is gone or that it never even existed. It is still taught, but where is the evidence? Where does the proof lie? Records? HA! The best method of lying and covering up the truth that it never existed or was never as terrible as the dragonriders made it out to be. Lord Holders, most convinced by this illogical argument after the fifty Turns passed without Threadfall, have grown tired and are sometimes unwilling to give the Weyr even a tenth of the supplies that are required to gain the protection of a Weyr. Why pay for fine service that isn't being received?!
Dragonriders, once an awe inspiring sight, are now viewed in disfavor and are barely being given a second glance by some. The last hundred Turns have made relations hard on Weyr and Hold-- violence from the Holders sometimes being used as a method to ease the obvious tension that has settled between the two. Do something! If Thread is to fall, then why hasn't it?! Worthless wherries! These are a few among the many insults and jabs thrown almost daily to any Weyr at any given time. Most recently, in Turn 1253, a young man at Koranis Hold was scolded for attacking a bluerider after several long minutes of harassment.
Despite the peaceful attempts made, it has become obvious that Holds no longer believes that they need the protection of the Weyrs that they once tried to please. It is now the 1256th Turn, tension is rising among those viewed as paranoid as the possible threat of Thread comes into play-- How will the celebrating and joyous people be, who ignore the old records and place everything to mythological, fare when the Red Star passes and Pern is once again under threat?
We are now accepting applications for candidates, dragonriders, crafters and weyrfolk. The first on-camera Weyrleadership flight is fast approaching, we are a new Weyr and in need of candidates and dragonriders-- There are ranking positions still available!
We should be considered a 'mostly canon' site since we are based in timeline where Igen was never founded and Koranis was established in its place. Our current dragon colors are the five regular colors and at this time we are not allowing mutations! This may change in the future as the overall plotline continues.
We attempt to keep the quality of our roleplay at a high level, and to ensure this we use spell check and grammar check. However, if you happen to be new to forum based roleplay, then don't be afraid to tell us and have help along the way! We are a very friendly and open minded site. Come, won't you be a part of our family?
* We are still in need of candidates and dragonriders!
* Active candidate lessons are up!
* Ranking positions are still available!
* Senior Queen Areth is showing signs of rising!
